This intro class covers performing from A to Z. Whether the goal is the next school play, the Broadway stage, or the next hot Netflix series, this class is the starting point. Performing on stage and on-camera are covered as today’s performers must develop proficiency in both. This class provides a foundation for further study in the Academy.
Topics include Stage movement, theater and on-set etiquette, principles of acting, differences between stage and on-camera acting, use of the voice, finding the light and hitting the mark, an overview of the audition and casting process, what is "type" in Film/TV and why is it less important for stage actors, how do you "develop" a believable character, and much more.
Taught by industry professionals, STA provides students with the tools, insight, and performance opportunity to grow as authentic, engaging artists.

Spotlight alumni Ellie Valastro (currently in the Broadway Tour of CATS) and Kerstin Anderson (Maria in the Broadway tour of Sound of Music and Laura Benanti’s alternate in Broadway’s My Fair Lady).
